About Vet Validaite

Our Mission

Vet Validaite started with one clear mission: To ensure the responsible development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) to benefit animal health and welfare.

Founded by vet, Dr Liz Barton, and tech expert, Dr Ofelia Stanciu, Vet Validaite brings together both veterinary and AI expertise to champion responsible development and adoption of AI. Liz and Ofelia are determined to help the responsible development and use of technology to benefit animals - especially because of their own beloved dogs and cats.

AI has enormous potential to improve the access and advance care for all animals - from wildlife conservation to production animals to the pets we love. However, there is currently an absence of robust, global regulation of AI use in animal health. This means the responsibility to evaluate and use AI appropriately lies with the end user - whether that's a livestock farmer, horse owner, pet parent or veterinary professional. Vet Validaite provides clear, easy to interpret information to help people make informed choices and support the responsible use of AI.

Many tech developers are passionate about improving the lives of animals and the people who look after them. However, there is no clear, consistent guidance about best practice for AI in regard to animal health. By openly sharing best practice standards, Vet Validaite helps developers to understand and apply these principles throughout the product lifecycle of their AI tools. We provide advice on how to meet these standards and independently assess the degree to which their tools are safe, transparent and effective. The clear, easy to interpret outputs provide an opportunity to showcase responsible AI development, building confidence in the adoption and use of tools.
